Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Checkpoint (“Checkpoint”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “Service”). If you have questions, contact us at mike@mooseplanetadventureracing.com.
1) Summary
- We collect only the information needed to operate Checkpoint features (accounts, teams, checklists, forum moderation, and app performance).
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Community features may display content you choose to post (for example: gear reviews, forum posts).
- Nothing in Checkpoint is intended to be linked to your real-world identity. Your display name/username is user-chosen and can be pseudonymous.
- You can request deletion of your account and profile information by emailing us, and you can also delete your account inside the app.
2) Information we collect
A. Account information
When you create an account or sign in (Apple / Google / email, depending on what the app supports), we may process:
- Email address (for authentication and account support)
- User ID (a technical identifier used by our backend)
- Optional profile details you provide (for example: username/handle, first name, last name, avatar, bio)
B. Content you submit
Checkpoint includes features that allow you to create, upload, or share content. This may include:
- Checklists, checklist items, kit/loadout data
- Team membership and team chat messages
- Forum posts, comments, gear reviews/ratings, and related media (if you upload images)
- Flags/reports submitted for moderation
C. Usage and diagnostic information
We may collect basic app diagnostics and usage data to keep the Service reliable, such as:
- Crash and error logs
- Basic device/app metadata (for example: app version)
- Login timestamps and security-related events
3) How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide core features (teams, checklists, kits, race planning, community content)
- Authenticate users and keep accounts secure
- Prevent abuse, spam, and unsafe content through moderation tooling
- Maintain, debug, and improve app performance
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service
4) What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not attempt to verify or connect your account to your real-world identity.
- We do not use sensitive identity verification (no driver’s license, no government IDs).
5) Sharing and disclosure
We may share information in limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use infrastructure providers (for example: hosting/database/auth) to operate the Service.
- Legal/safety: We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Service.
- With your actions: If you post public content (reviews, community posts), that content may be visible to other users as part of the Service.
6) Community content and moderation
Checkpoint includes community features. If you post, comment, upload media, or interact publicly, that content may be visible to other users. We also provide tools to report (“flag”) content and for moderators/admins to review flagged items. Moderation actions may include removing content, limiting features, or account restrictions in cases of repeated abuse.
7) Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and profile information at any time (see below).
8) Your choices and rights
A. Update your profile
You can update certain profile details inside the app (for example: avatar, username, bio).
B. Delete your account and profile information
You may request deletion of your account and all associated profile information at any time:
- In the app: Go to Profile → Account deletion → follow the prompts.
- By email: Email mike@mooseplanetadventureracing.com with the subject line “Checkpoint Account Deletion Request” and send it from the email address associated with your account.
We will take reasonable steps to delete your profile information and disable/delete your account. Some residual data may remain in backups for a limited period or where retention is required for security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
9) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10) Children’s privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to request deletion.
11) International users
If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in countries where our providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to that processing.
12) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice in-app or on our website.
